Nigerian film industry is made up of very talented actors and actresses who have showed their acting prowess through their sensational movies.

Some of these Nollywood celebrities have at some point in their lives delved into music and were not quite successful.

Stargist.com brings you 15 Nollywood celebrities that have ventured into music at some point.

1 Genevieve Nnaji

In 2005, after she and some of her colleagues were suspended from acting, she released a single, ‘No More’. She went on to get a mouth-watering record deal in Ghana. This still didn’t boost her music career as it has become a thing of the past.

2. Patience Ozokwor

She is popularly known in the movie industry for her roles as a wicked step-mother, wife or in-law. The very talented actress also tried her hands on music, releasing about three tracks in which one featured, Tonto Dikeh and Charles Awurum. She released the video of ‘Adaeze’ and a single off her ‘Ojadili’ albumin 2012. Since then, nothing was heard regarding her music career again.

3. Kate Henshaw

Veteran actress, Kate Henshaw who is also well known for her fitness craze  wrote best single track ever used in Nollywood “Treasure” she has also sang other songs but never made a name in her musical career.

4. Omotola Jalade – Ekeinde

Omosexy as popularly known  started her music career in 2005, she released a single title ‘GBA’ and others of her song including ‘Missing you’, ‘Feel Alright’, but she wasn’t quite successful. She also featured many artiste including Del B, Harrysong, Uche. Etc. she had hit tracks such as ‘Naija Lowa’, ‘The things you do to me, ‘Through the fire’ and recently ‘Strong Girl’ in which she featured many female artiste both from Nigeria and within Africa.

5. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Dikeh who seems to be having a lot of problems in her marriage also at some point in her life dabbled into music and this of course did not yield much success.

The mother of one made her debut by releasing singles ‘Hi’ and ‘Itz Ova’ feat Snypa. The songs were trailed by controversy as critics, some even questioned her vocal ability. Doubts were raised on whether her decision to go into music was for the best.

Nevertheless, the songs so far has been said to have enjoyed steady airplay and massive downloads. Dikeh also showed she was not a quitter with the release of a new single ‘Crazically fit’ featuring Terry G, who was also the producer, followed by ‘Jeje’ and more also.

6. Anita Joseph

Anita Joseph who is known for her controversial dress sense also tried her hands on music. In 2008/2009 she had released a single and performed in some shows. So far she has proved herself as one of the future talented actresses in Nollywood. The seductive actress and singer had singles debut which includes; ‘Nyem Something’; ‘Long time’. As of recent she claimed to have been newly born again and about to drop her new gospel songs which God gave her during the fuel subsidy removal strike.

7. Cossy Orjiakor

Cossy Orjiakor who is a graduate of the University of Nigeria ( Nsukka ) known for putting her boobs on display has been featured in musical videos and had released an album debut titled ‘Nutty Queen’ in 2003 but she wasn’t successful in her music career.

8. Dakore Egbuson

One of Nollywood’s finest and ambassador for Amnesty International, Amstel Malta and Oxfam of America, Dakore Egbuson has a single debut track titled ‘Don’t make me’. Although despite her beautiful voice she still hasn’t gone far with her music career.

9. Desmond Elliot

The now Hon. Desmond Elliot had once been into music. The Nollywood actor/director who graduated from Uni-Lag where he read Economics. He is now a politician; the singer of ‘I am so glad that Jesus loves me’ was not really successful with singing.

10. Jim Iyke

The father of one was more interested in rapping. Some of his tracks are; ‘Born to do this’ feat. Puffy T and ‘Who Am I’ Feat. 2Face Idibia. Jim Iyke wasn’t heard of anymore in the music scene. He is obviously better as an actor.

11. John Okafor

Comic actor popularly known as Mr IBU who is happily married also tried his hands on music and released an album some years back.

12. Lilian Bach

The light-skinned actress dabbled into music but was not really successful. She also has released an album.

13. Nkem Owoh

The comic actor widely known as Osuofia had released an album ‘I Go Chop Your Dollar’ which was banned on air, he also went ahead to record another song ‘Olamma’. Osuofia so far has done well in music at the past but recently he is nowhere to be found in the music industry.

14. Stella Damasus

Stella started her career as a singer in Lagos where she used to work as a studio session singer at Famous Klink studios owned by famous filmmaker Kingsley Ogoro.

She is a lead singer in most Nollywood movies and happily married to Daniel Ademinokan.

15. Shan George

The Cross river state born actress in 2010 released her debut album titled ‘Dance’. She has also performed in a couple of gigs. Having so much passion for music but still not able to meet to up to the tax ahead of her

Shan ventured into music with the release of her de­but album ‘Nkenkene’, which also featured other tracks like ‘Ada’, ‘Ogogo’ etc. Though her impact in the music scene has not been as remarkable as her Nollywood experience.
