Spring last year was about the chic, sexy and sophisticated side of fashion but this year, it's all about re-defining a confident look with exaggerated lines, metallic effects, graphic prints, bright candy pink and sunshine yellow - with color and light as watchwords for the season.

Now that spring is almost in full swing and the hot and sticky weather is slowly fading away, all the hottest trends are coming out and we couldn’t be any more excited to try them on.

Here are some of the top trends for spring 2017 that we’re sure you will love.

Floral prints

Grace Alex
The Floral print is back for spring/ summer 2017 and is predicted to be a huge trend! Florals are no surprise for spring, but this spring brings blossom prints up to date in all-over seventies style. Soft floral prints in dreamy pastel shades are sure to be on top of every lady's shopping list for 2017.

Fushia pink

@ironyofashi
Shocking and bright pink is going to be everywhere this spring and if you’re the girly type, this is a color trend you shouldn’t dare miss. You can create chic looks that are feminine and sophisticated with your fushia and bright pink.

Circle skirts

Stella Uzo
Full skirt is perfect all-year round, but if you want to be dressed in the hottest spring trends, then trade your usual full flowy skirt for circle skirts in rich patterns. Circle skirts puts some spunk into an otherwise boring outfit.

Jumpsuits all day

@doopie
Much more than a trend, the jumpsuit is now a seasonal staple that tops editors’ wishlists as an easy piece for summer every year. Uptown girl or fashionista, choose from evening glamour and daytime cool.

The 1970s sleeveless sweater

@stylebyada
This spring season comes with the revival of a key 1970s piece: that patterned sleeveless sweater your grandpa once had is back in vogue.

Oversized Sleeves

@skinnyhipster
When it comes to fashion, proportions are important. Whether the garment is “in proportion” or “out of proportion” can make a huge difference to the overall look. While oversized silhouettes have been trending heavily for some time now, they have mostly remained unchanged, featuring a broad and long shape with regular-length sleeves. This season, however, fashionistas are having fun with proportions and favouring extra, extra long sleeves.

All-things Shiny

@awedbymoni
This spring, put a little bit of sparkle and shine to your look by wearing some sequins although with a new kind of high-octane elegance reflected in head-to-toe gold and silver. Daytime sequins are nothing new so don’t be afraid to wear them for non-evening looks.

Seventies prints

@Prissysavvy
Geometric checks, flowers, losanges and curves that was huge in the 70s is back now and seriously seriously dominating the spring/summer 2017 season.

Mens' shirts

Folake Huntoon
Menswear is an eternal source of inspiration for womenswear designers and the men’s shirt took to the Spring/Summer 2017 runways with a more disconstructive twist, extra sleeves, collars and cuffs.

Athleisure

@rantiinreview
Being fashionably fit is a problem no more, many thanks to one of the hottest spring trends: athleisure. Adored by many – including Elle’s Nikki Ogunnaike – athleisure fashion has been the go-to trend of celebs and fashion mavens alike. And why not? Athleisure allows you to be stylish – without making you feel uncomfortable. If you want to be able to take this to the office, remember to pair your sporty pieces with more ornate or elegant items.

Mini Bags

@skinnyhipster
Forget about big, bulk bags. This spring, mini novelty bags are all the rage so go ahead and grab the quirkiest that you can find. You can use this piece to liven up a plain and simple look or one that has mostly neutral hues.

Modern Ruffles

@chicamastyle
Ruffles are great but modern ruffles just take adding texture to your outfit to the next level. They’re subtle and are presented in unusual fabrications this season. They add such a nice statement to the outfit you’re wearing without making it seem like you’re going overboard. Whether they were placed on the bust, around the collar, over the shoulders, down the front, or on sleeves, ruffles are a standout feature this spring.
