Nyakim opened up about being bullied as a child and why she doesn't let the trolls get to her, she had this to say; "love the confidence in you. The passion you have about your melanin and self love can move people around the world. The understanding of your worth despite the insults you might have got from people will make the woman you'll become. Never let the opinion of others stop you from following your dreams or from becoming who you are truly meant to become."
In march Nyakim Gatwech, a Minnesota based Sudanese model was sitting in an uber on her way to a job interview in St Paul when her driver who she describes as a light skinned black man asked if she'd ever consider bleaching her much dark skin for $10,000.
