1. Don Jazzy
Don Jazzy is a Nigerian record producer, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He co-founded the now defunct record label Mo’ Hits Records in 2004.
On 7 May 2012, he announced a new record label, Mavin Records. Don Jazzy said,
“I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time.”
On 8 May 2012, he released an album featuring the artists signed to his label. The songs on the album included: Amarachi, Forever, Oma Ga, Take Banana and Chocolate, YOLO and the anthem I’m a MAVIN. Mavin records signed the vocalist, Tiwa Savage. Don Jazzy built a social network platform called “Marvin League” to complement and market his label.
He is one Nigerian’s most renowned music producers.
2. Legendury Beatz
Legendury Beatz is a Nigerian record producing and songwriting duo, composed of siblings Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko . Their production style is deeply rooted in afrobeats as well as in several other genres, including hip hop, reggae fusion, moombahton and electro house.
With less than a year as a music production duo, Legendury Beatz made international headlines in the Nigerian recording industry by producing the critically acclaimed single “Azonto”, which was performed by afrobeats recording artist and MOBO Award winner Wizkid. The aforementioned song helped popularize the Ghanaian Azonto dance.
3. MasterKraft
Sunday Ginikachukwu Nweke, professionally known as Masterkraft, is a Nigerian record producer, disc jockey, band director, pianist, and songwriter. He started his professional music career with Kennis Music, and has worked with artists such as Flavour N’abania, Bracket, Banky W., Sound Sultan, Timaya, Lynxxx, M.I and J. Martins, among others. His production hits include “Fine lady” by Lynxxx featuring Wizkid, “Kwarikwa (Remix)” by Flavour N’abania featuring Fally Ipupa, “Girl” by Bracket featuring Wizkid, “Chinny Baby” by Flavour N’abania, “Ukwu” by Timaya, and “Jasi” by Banky W.
Leadership newspaper ranked him 8th on its 2014 list of the Top 10 Music Producers In Nigeria. In August 2015, Nigeria Entertainment Today ranked him 7th on its list of Nigeria’s Top 7 Biggest Music Producers at the Moment. Thisday newspaper listed him as one its Top 10 Music Producers in Nigeria.
4. Young John
Young John is a Nigerian record producer and audio engineer. He is best known for producing the critically acclaimed single titled “Story For The Gods” off Olamide’s Street OT album. With music production credits on albums including Street OT and 2 Kings, Young John was nominated in the “Producer of The Year” categories at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies 2015. He is currently affiliated with YBNL Nation.
5. Sarz
Osabuohien Osaretin better known by his stage name Sarz, is a Nigerian record producer and musician. Born in Benin City, Edo State, he is popularly known for the tag Sarz On The Beat, at the beginning or end of all his music productions.
His first full credit production work was for Lord of Ajasa’s “See Drama” in 2007. He has produced tracks for Wizkid, Naeto C, Banky W, Skales, Shank, Reminisce, Goldie Harvey, eLDee, Wande Coal and YQ. He was formerly signed to Trybe Records, but left the outfit after his contract expired in November 2013.
Sarz was nominated for Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2012 “Producer Of The Year” award alongside Don Jazzy, although Don Jazzy won the award Don Jazzy ended up giving the award to Sarz. He won the “Best New Producer” award at the 2012 Dynamix Awards. He went on to release his first single “Beat Of Life (Samba)” featuring Nigerian Artiste, Wizkid off his coming album.
6. Cobhams Asuquo
Asuquo is a visually impaired Nigerian musician, producer, and songwriter.
Cobhams Asuquo likes to say that his music career started when as a child he used to puff his cheeks to play the 12-bar blues. Today, he is known for producing some of the finest artistes in Nigeria. Noteworthy among these artistes is the Nigerian soul-singing sensation, Asa, whose 2007 debut album became an international hit.
In addition to producing the album, Cobhams wrote and co-wrote several of its hits songs. In 2005, Cobhams signed on to Sony ATV London as a songwriter. After working as Head of Audio Productions at a local label, Questionmark Entertainment, he set up his own recording facility in 2006. He is CEO/ Head of Productions of CAMP (Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions), an all-encompassing entertainment company that discovers, nurtures and exposes great talents. Cobhams has won multiple local and international awards for his creative and entrepreneurial contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
7. Wizzy Pro
Nifu Haruna, also known by his stage name WizzyPro is a Nigerian record producer and sound engineer. Best known for his chart-topping single titled “Emergency”, WizzyPro is credited as the producer of Patoranking’s first official single titled “Alubarika” which brought him to limelight. WizzyPro is signed to BeatBox and is currently working on his debut studio album titled Lord of the Sound.
8. Shizzi
Oluwaseyi Akerele, better known as Shizzi, is a Nigerian record producer and songwriter.
Shizzi started out as a drummer in church. He achieved recognition for his work on Davido’s 2011 single “Dami Duro”, and produced six songs on the singer’s debut album Omo Baba Olowo (2012).
He produced Wizkid’s “Love My Baby”, a song from the artist’s debut studio album Superstar (2011). He has been credited for producing “Skelewu” and “Gobe”. He was also the producer behind Wande Coal’s highly controversial songs “Baby Face” and “Go Low”. Shizzi has worked with Sasha, Harrysong, OD Woods, Naeto C, Sauce Kid, Wande Coal, Wizkid, D’Prince, May D, Danagog, Emmy Gee, Shank and Skuki, among others.
9. Spellz
Ben’Jamin Obadje also known as Spellz is a Nigeria recording producer. He has produced for artists including Chuddy K, 9ice, Banky W., D’Prince, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Dammy Krane. His production hits include “Gaga Crazy” by Chuddy K, “My Dear” by Dammy Krane, “Check and Balance” by Burna Boy, “Mummy Mi” by Wizkid, “How Long” by Davido, and “Keys to the City” by Tiwa Savage. He is currently signed to 323 Entertainment.
10. Del B
Ayodele Basel, better known as Del B, is a Nigerian sound engineer, record producer and songwriter. He is best known for producing Kcee’s hit single “Limpopo”, which went on to be voted Song of The Year at the 2013 edition of The Headies. In 2012, he produced the single “Shake” by Flavour N’abania, which received critical acclaim among music critics.
el B has been credited as producer on studio albums including Seyi or Shay by Seyi Shay; Testify by Harrysong; Ghetto University by Runtown; Take Over by Kcee; The Baddest by Davido; Blessed and Thankful by Flavour N’abania; and Ayo by Wizkid. Del B showed his versatility as a singer and producer after he released a single titled “Too Proud” in 2012 and went on to be featured on a song titled “So Nice”, by DJ Neptune, in 2015.
