Nigerian stylist, journalist, and editor, Dimeji Alara has been appointed Fashion Editor of ELLE Magazine South Africa, becoming the first black male and non-South African fashion editor in the magazine’s 21-year history in South Africa.
Born in Paris in the early 80s, he started his career with Genevieve magazine as a junior reporter in 2004 before starting his own magazine, StyleMania, in collaboration with Nigerian photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi.
In late 2013 Dimeji Alara was announced as the new editor of Genevieve Magazine after resigning from StyleMania magazine he left Genevieve Magazine after the November 2015 issue which was released yesterday with Tiwa Savage on the cover.
He made the announcement on Instagram saying,
“‘I had such an amazing time working with the Genevieve team and the amazing publisher, Mrs.Betty Irabor. I thank everyone for your continual support and wish the Genevieve team more great years ahead”
