Veteran Nollwood actress, Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, celebrated her 75th birthday and 50 years on stage in Manchester, United Kingdom on Friday.
Actress Taiwo Aromokun amongst other Nollywood acts based in the UK turned up to celebrate with Mama Rainbow.
Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, is a Nigerian veteran actress and wife of the late Nigerian playwright Hubert Ogunde. She was born on 16 October 1942 and ventured into full-time acting after the death of her husband. Her stage name “Iya Rainbow” stems from “Osumare” (meaning “rainbow” in British English), the name of the theatre group of her late husband, Sir Hubert Ogunde, who died in 1990. She has five children.
