Cross River State born rapper, song writer, actor and serial woman pleaser, Efa Iwara also known for his role as ‘David’ in MTV Shuga disclosed why he ventured into the entertainment industry , his first ever movie role and his take on domestic violence in an exclusive interview with Stargist.com.

SG: Where are you from?
Efa: I am from Ugep, Cross River State. I was born and raised in Ibadan.
SG: What Schools did you attend?
Efa: International School, Ibadan and I studied Geography in University Of Ibadan.
SG: How come you ventured into entertainment?
Efa: Entertainment seemed like more..like there’s so much to be achieved. I enjoy entertaining people with music and acting.
SG: When did you start music officially?
Efa: I started music officially in 2011
SG: Was your role in MTV Shuga your first?
Efa: No, it wasn’t. Tinsel – It was a 24-hour role though. I was a moderator in a debate between Tosyn Bucknor and Chuks.
SG: What inspired your recent song with Wofaifada, ‘Obandi’ ?
Efa: It’s a love song. Wofai played my wife in the video which was because we are both from the same place in Cross River State, she could fully understand the context of the video plus she is really pretty.
SG: Are you working on any project presently?
Efa: Not exactly. I starred in a new TV series on EbonylifeTV, ‘Life 101‘ which premiered on March,1, 2017 and I am currently working on a new project, I hope to drop before the end of the second quarter of the year.
SG: How do you balance work and private life?
Efa: Not very well. My friends will tell you that i don’t share them equally. I work most of the time and a lot of personal relationships have suffered because of this. It’s a work in progress. I hope to improve.
SG: Are you married?
Efa: [Chuckles] I wish I was.
SG: If you had to chose between music and acting, which would you stick with?
Efa: I am sorry I can’t. How can you ask a man to chose between two wives or rather, two children? I can’t see myself doing one without the other. Even when I am not on set & with friends, I act for the fun… both provide two different outlets.
SG: Who are your mentors in the entertainment industry?
Efa: Music, I’d say MI, Naeto C and 2 Baba are my mentors. Acting wise, Pete Edochie.
SG: Have you had any embarrassing encounter with a fan?
Efa: I can’t really think of one. If this counts as embarrassing, at a red carpet event sometime ago, someone actually mistook me for Praiz
SG: What do you think of the Nigerian movie Industry?
Efa: We have done so well and I think there is so much we can still do. We are on the crux of a revolution.
SG: What’s your take on domestic violence?
Efa: I believe that domestic violence is unacceptable in any form and is something that we need to fight against in Nigeria.
