The Lyon dynasty's formidable woman in Fox mega hithit movie - Empire , popularly known as cookie Lyon graced the October issue of Rhapsody magazine looking fierce as ever.
Being the queen of the empire isn't enough, the Washington D.C born actress wants to "change the narrative" (a favourite phrase of hers) of what it means to be an actress of colour in Hollywood in 2017.
She has this to say during the interview "you know, I'm an around the way girl. I grew up in the hood. I'm just a regular girl who had dreams, and my story is important."
