A politician is a person who campaigns for or holds a position in government. He or she may start a career by running for a local office, like mayor, but could eventually serve nationally — in Congress or even as President.

Some Nigerian male politicians  have shown that they are not only about the affairs of the government but also that of their family.

1. Muhammadu Buhari

The President Of Nigeria who is currently away on a sick leave has been spotted in lovely family photos with his children and grandchildren a couple of times.

He is a retired major general in the Nigerian Army and previously served as the nation’s head of state from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, after taking power in a military coup d’état. The term Buharism is ascribed to the Buhari military government.

 

2.Yemi Osinbajo

 

 

Osinbajo is the current Vice President of Nigeria, in office since 29 May 2015. He is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor of Law and until his inauguration as Vice President, a Senior Partner with SimmonsCooper Partners, a commercial law practice.

Yemi Osinbajo was born into the family of Opeoluwa Osinbajo on 8 March 1957, Creek Hospital, Lagos. Osinbajo is married to Dolapo (née Soyode) Osinbajo, a granddaughter of Obafemi Awolowo. They have three children together.

His family appears to be closely knitted as he is always spotted in cosy photos with his wife.

 

3. Abdulmumin Jibrin

He recently celebrated his 40th birthday with amazing family photos which included  his pregnant wife and kids.

Abdulmumin was first elected to the Nigerian National Assembly’s House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal constituency in Kano State under the Peoples Democratic Party – P.D.P in 2011 before decamping to the newly formed political party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 and was later re-elected into House of Representatives in 2015.

He was Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Finance in 7th Assembly and Chaired House Committee on Appropriation in the 8th Assembly until his resignation in July 2016 under controversial circumstances. He was one of the frontline Members that supported Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to contest in the Presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014.

4. Femi Fani Kayode

Kayode is married to ex-beauty queen, Precious Chikwendu and they have a son together. From his social media posts, he definitely spends a lot of time with his wife and child.

Femi is a Nigerian politician, essayist, poet and lawyer. He was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was with the opposition’s All Progressive Congress (APC) until June 2014 when he returned to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Although his family lineage originates from Osun, he was born in Lagos, on 16 October 1960 to Chief Victor Babaremilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode and to Chief (Mrs) Adia Adunni Fani-Kayode. He is an Ile-Ife chieftain of Yoruba descent.

5. Willie Obiano

Willie Obiano is undoubtedly a family man as it’s not a rarity to see him in the company of his wife or children.

He began his banking career in 1981 at the First Bank of Nigeria before he left to join the services of Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc as accountant and rose to the position of Chief Internal Auditor. In 1989, he was one of the auditors that audited Texaco Refinery in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 1991, he joined the Fidelity Bank as Deputy Manager and head of Audit unit and rose to the position of Executive Director on October 2003.

He left the Banking System to join the Nigerian politics and in 2013 contested the November 16, 17 and 30 Anambra State gubernatorial elections on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.  He won the election and was sworn in on March 17, 2014 to succeed Peter Obi

6. Atiku Abubakar

 

Abubakar is known for posing frequently with his family in photos.

He is a Nigerian politician, businessman and philanthropist, who served as the second elected Vice-President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Abubakar worked in the Nigeria Customs Service for twenty years, rising to become the Deputy Director, as the second highest position in the Service was then known. He retired in April 1989 and took up full-time business and politics. He ran for the office of Governor in the Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba States) in 1991, and for the Presidency in 1993, placing third after MKO Abiola and Babagana Kingibe in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) primaries.

7. Dino Melaye

Melaye was the perfect host to son and his school classmates at Lead British International School who came on a visit to the National Assembly recently. He played an amazing role as a father.

Melaye was a member In the House of Representatives, where he openly opposed President Jonathan Goodluck, calling his government the most corrupt one in Nigeria.

In the 2015 Senatorial election he was elected a member of the Senate of Nigeria from the Kogi West Senatorial District.

He seconded the nomination of Senator Bukola Saraki as candidate for the office of President of the Senate following a nomination made by Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima.

He has openly bragged on national TV that he’ll one day rule the most populous black nation.

8. Abiola Ajimobi

He has five children- four boys and a girl that he proudly loves to show off.

Ajimobi is a Nigerian politician from Oyo State in south-western Nigeria. He was formerly the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria.

He left the oil sector in 2002 after 26 years, and was elected in 2003 as a Senator of the Republic of Nigeria representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). After one term in the senate, he contested in 2007 for the governorship of Oyo state under the banner of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), a bid which he lost. He recontested again in the April 2011 elections under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and was elected Governor of Oyo State in a closely contested vote.
