Veteran Nollywood actress, Sola Sobowale who won everybody’s heart with her amazing role in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘The Wedding Party’ has produced over 50 movies and starred in more than 200 films.

Early Life

Sola Sobowale was born in Ondo state. Her father was a retired school principal and her mother was a retired school teacher.

Sobowale opted out of College Of Education to follow her dream at Ibadan which was seen as the hub of entertainment in Nigeria back then. Her in-law, Tunji Oyelana got her enrolled in the University Of Ibadan’s Department of Music. Sola later opted for thespian Art.

Career

She joined acting as a member of the Awada Kerikeri Group under the leadership of Adebayo Salami. Over the years, she had scripted, co-scripted, directed and produced several Nigerian films. She scripted, produced and directed, Ohun Oko Somida, a 2010 Nigerian film that stars Adebayo Salami. She featured in Dangerous Twins, a 2004 Nigerian drama film produced by Tade Ogidan, written and directed by Niji Akanni. She also featured in Family on Fire produced and directed by Tade Ogidan.

Super Story shot her  to limelight in which she got an invitation to go to South Africa and Zimbabwe and earned the nickname, ‘Toyin Tomato’. She was also in, ‘The Wedding Party’ which was one of the most sought after movies in 2016.

Awards

In 2016, she was nominated in the Special Recognition Category by Best Of Nollywood Awards.

Controversies

Sometime ago, rumours had it that she was caught with cocaine in Saudi Arabia and beheaded.

Marriage

Sola is married to former corporate executive director of EKO Hospital, Dotun Sobowale and they have five children together.
